About twice as much of the natural vitamin is measured in the blood of people who take it compared to individuals who take the same amount of synthetic vitamin E, according to a report featured in the September issue of The Wellness Letter, the newsletter of nutrition published by the University of California at Berkeley's School of Public Health. The body can't tell the difference between most natural and synthetic vitamins. Vitamin E is an exception because of chemical differences between the natural and synthetic versions. Differentiate between the two on a product's label. Natural vitamin E is denoted by "d-alpha" whereas synthetic vitamin E is denoted by "dl-alpha."
